www.danielho.com - That is now Grammy Award winning Producer Daniel Ho. What a cool cat. This guy love's to play and teach and share his love of music. We had Daniel, Keoki Kahumoku, and the very suave Herb Ohta Jr., in for a concert with our halau in January of 2006, and I've never, ever, seen an audience so mesmerized. He has some great CD's for sale on this site, and is a great producer and supporter of many of my slack key hero's. You gotta love this guy!
malibu56.blogspot.com - Catch a wave at the county line...
www.kahumoku.com - This is Uncle George Kahumoku's web site. Uncle George (along with Uncle Mahi Ka`imikaua) is one of our primary mentors for slack key guitar. He is a class act, and an all around good human. He is a great teacher and he and his beautiful wife Nancy (who is George Winston's sister; George Winston IS Dancing Cat Records) are wonderful perpetuators of Hawaiian Slack Key music. Nancy does an incredible job of running the business end while George plays. Check their website to attend their annual Slack Key Workshop on Maui. We attended in 2003 and had the time of our lives!
www.slackkey.com - This website is extremely important for those who love slack key. It is basically the performance information for the weekly slack key shows at the Ritz Carlton in Kapalua, Maui. If you want to know which of your guitar hero's is playing weekly in Maui, definitely use this site. I have been to this show, and you walk out spiritually healed!!!
www.taropatch.net - This is the best site on the internet for Slack Key, Ukulele, Bass, and Steel Players of Hawaiian music. You will never find a more informative, and helpful group of people anywhere on the net. There is general information on every single question you could have about playing, and there is even several chat rooms to help you find answers you can't find otherwise about what we do ... I go to this site daily to find out the latest topics. It is a great motivator for musicians of any level. They also have a very cool section that lists every Hawaiian Slack Key or Ukulele Book known to mankind. Every now and then, you will see the Slack Key recording stars responding to questions.
www.alligatorboogaloo.com - When you get to this page, look for the Ukulele Boogaloo link. I have "borrowed" more songs from this site than I should even admit too.....They have old songs, new songs, you name it, you'll find something you love to play here. The chords are above the words which make it perfect for learning.
www.mele.com - This is an extremely comprehensive website of Hawaiian artists (with links to their website's) and music for sale on the net. We have made several purchases through Auntie Maria and have never been let down. If it's Hawaiian music, it's for sale here. She also has a great link for lyrics to songs and chants. This is a great website.
www.dancingcat.com - This is the site for all of the slack key artists who have recorded under George Winston at Dancing Cat Records. George is an incredible pianist in his own right, and is also an incredible slack key guitarist as well. He has done an incredible job of promoting and supporting this genre and almost single handedly brought the slack key artists we all love now, out into the open. My respect for this guy is beyond words.
www.konaweb.com - Kona Bob is without a doubt, in my top two for lap steel players in the world (the other is Bob Brozman). An incredible talent, but also is the inventor and luthier for the Kona Walking stick Bass. This is a bass in my house. If you want to learn how to play bass, or want one of the spiffiest basses in town, go here. It's also a very cool website for those of you who are going to Kona.
www.fire.countyofventura.org - Hey, if I'm not here for classes, go here, look on the link that says "fireline" and you'll see where Uncle is at. Or if you just want to be a fire geek and find out what's going on with the roads, hills or water you'll get some good info.
www.taylorguitars.com - I own several guitars, but my hands down favorite for playing at the fire station and on stage is my Taylor 410. I've never heard tones so warm and full. When it came time for Nani to buy here first stage guitar, guess what? She got the same one. So we are a Taylor Guitar family.
www.elixerstrings.com - I use Elixer Guitar Strings on all of my guitars. (Ovation Acoustic, Yamaha Acoustic, 2 Taylor Acoustics, 2 Fender electrics - Tele/Strat). I use Elixer Guitar Strings on my Bass Guitars (Tacoma Fretless Acoustic, G and L Electric). These suckers are the most expensive, but whoa, great tone and overall durability. Great for slack!
www.kamakahawaii.com - I use Kamaka ukulele strings on all of our ukes. (5 Kamakas, 1 Fluke)
www.bose.com - Go to the Musicians link. We use the Bose PAS Sound System in all performances and rehearsals. Once again, I have to find the most expensive, but I jive you not, the best sound you'll find. Every musician should have the opportunity to play through this set up! Even Uncle sounds good!
